MLM Medical Labs Expands Memphis Laboratory Capabilities
Building on European expertise with investments in biomarker testing, molecular diagnostics, and biostorage.
October 19, 2026
MLM Medical Labs, now part of Labcorp, combines specialized scientific expertise, regional focus, and a highly agile service model with Labcorp’s global reach, broad scientific capabilities, and operational infrastructure. Building on this expanded foundation and the established expertise and testing capabilities of its European laboratory, MLM is making significant investments in its primary U.S. laboratory facilities in Memphis, Tennessee.
Advancing Alzheimer’s Disease Biomarker Testing
A new Fujirebio LUMIPULSE G1200 automated immunoassay analyzer is being installed in Memphis, extending technology already established within MLM’s German laboratory.
The initial U.S. implementation will focus on plasma pTau217/Aβ42 ratio testing, supporting biomarker-driven approaches to Alzheimer’s disease clinical research, including patient screening and study enrollment.
This investment builds on MLM’s existing European experience in neurodegenerative disease biomarker testing and represents another step toward greater alignment of specialized testing capabilities across its global laboratory network.
Expanding Molecular Diagnostic Capabilities
MLM is also investing in new PCR technology at its Memphis laboratory to expand its molecular diagnostic capabilities.
The initial focus will be APOE genotyping, an important tool in Alzheimer’s disease research for characterizing genetic risk factors and informing clinical trial screening strategies.
Together, these investments strengthen MLM’s ability to support increasingly sophisticated, biomarker-driven clinical development programs.
Strengthening Biostorage Infrastructure
Complementing these analytical investments, MLM is expanding its Memphis biostorage infrastructure in response to increasing demand for clinical trial sample storage.
The investment will increase the facility’s ultra-low-temperature freezer capacity by approximately 15% over existing levels, strengthening its ability to accommodate growing sample volumes.
This expansion reinforces MLM’s focus on reliable, temperature-controlled biospecimen management and the long-term integrity of clinical trial samples.
One Global Laboratory Network. Continued Investment.
These investments reflect MLM Medical Labs’ ongoing commitment to its U.S. operations while building on the capabilities and expertise of its European laboratory.
As part of Labcorp’s global central laboratory network, MLM continues to invest in scientific excellence and operational infrastructure across both the U.S. and Europe. These enhancements support a more connected global laboratory footprint, helping sponsors access regional expertise while benefiting from consistent quality, standardized processes, and streamlined data generation across multinational studies.
